Electric Vehicle Battery Maintenance

Written by: Randy Anderson, National Technical Sales & Training Manager

For your electric vehicle, golf cart or floor scrubber to operate as it designed, your batteries need to be properly maintained and charged.  Traditional wet flooded batteries should have the electrolyte levels checked and topped up every 15-20 cycles, this means topping with distilled water when the levels reach the low point.  AGM batteries are a great alternative as they do not require the addition of any water however they must be paired with chargers designed specifically for AGM batteries.  Cable and terminal connections should be cleaned and re torqued on all battery types on a regular basis to ensure good connectivity, corroded terminals and connectors can result in machine run time issues and charging issues and damaged terminals.  So remember, preventative maintenance will always save you money in the long run.
